PMI Silicon Valley Job Search Group

“Success in Search”

Description:

This group is established to provide job search support for Silicon Valley project management professionals.  It is sponsored by the Silicon Valley chapter of the Project Management Institute - PMI (www.pmisv.org) to help our members in transition improve their probability of landing a future job.

In conjunction with the chapter's Career Management Seminars and Career Development Workshops, the Job Search Group focuses on providing:

a) The skills and tools necessary for successful personal marketing and job search
b) Opportunities to share job market intelligence and strategies
c) A forum for mutual support, accountability, and inspiration

Meeting Format:

One of the challenges people in transition face is maintaining their levels of energy and focus during what can be an arduous search process.  The intent of this group is to provide the mutual support that we all need when we face these situations in our lives.
In our weekly meetings we share our accomplishments from the prior week, commit to actions we intend to take in the coming week, and provide help and suggestions to our peers. This concept is similar to that of success teams you may be familiar with from working with outplacement organizations or networking groups.  The difference is that we are more critically focused on the project management profession.

We use a Yahoo! group (PMISV_JOB_SEARCH_GROUP) to post information about our meetings, companion PMI chapter events, as well as leads and suggestions that the members develop in their search endeavors.
