Community Outreach Events Are A Fun And Rewarding Way To
Get Involved In The Community!

The Community Outreach Program was started in 2009. Based on requests from PMI-SV Chapter members, we offer a wide variety of group events. These events offer opportunities to build healthy communities by working to improve the environment, supporting community festivals, providing school supplies to students and teachers, and providing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need.

Our group events are designed to facilitate networking with PMI-SV members as well as with others in the community. We seek to increase awareness of Project Management as a profession, and to increase awareness of PMI-SV within our community.

A typical event involves volunteering for a two to four hour shift on a Saturday. A host from the non-profit we are helping provides an orientation to the organization as well as the work we will be doing. Occasionally, we have the opportunity to meet and talk with a client who has directly benefited from the kind of work we do. There is usually time to share lunch together before or after the event.

For those who would like to volunteer in the community on an individual basis, we suggest you join us at some of our events. Many of the organizations we work with have an ongoing need for volunteers with project management skills, technical skills, or those who want to learn new skills in working with non-profits. Rather than searching for a job description, the best way to get involved is to recognize a need in the community, network with others who share your concerns, and then volunteer to help.

We are always open to new ideas for events, and can use new team members who would like to host events. Please contact the Director of Community Outreach with your comments and suggestions.

All of our Community Outreach events appear on the PMI-SV calendar. We hope to see you at one of our activities sometime soon!
