Corporate Outreach Program

Do you think it would be great if lot more people at your workplace knew about PMI, PMP certification and PMI Silicon Valley Chapter ?

If yes, we can help. As part of the corporate outreach initiative, we can offer, free, 45 min to 1 hour presentation at your work place. The primary goal of this initiative is to reach out to as many project, program and portfolio managers and project team members in as many Silicon Valley employers as possible. Its been 3 years since we started this effort and in that time, we have done presentations at different groups in companies like Symantec, Google, VMWare, SAP, Seagate, Synopsys, NXP (Philips), Longs Drugs, StarCite, Honeywell, Stanford Healthcare etc. We have also offered presentation at couple of grad schools - Univ of SF Cupertino extn and Mission college - where the attendees were mainly working PM professionals enrolled in PM gradute programs.

The presentation format (sample agenda) is -

  • What is PMI (Project Management Institute) ?
  • What are different certifications offered by PMI ? What is PMP ? What is PgMP ?
  • Why PMP ?
  • PMP exam, qualification criteria etc
  • What is PMI Silicon Valley Chapter ?
  • What are different activities and programs offered by PMISV ?
  • Why join PMI and PMISV ? WIIFM (Whats in it for me) ?
  • Questions and Answers

The attendees don't have to be "PM" by designation and the field/domain can be anything - from construction to software development to finance to biotech. As long as they are working on projects - in any role - then thats fine. And yes, always, more the merrier.

We try to keep it as interactive as possible and sure, based on the interest, we can always customize the contents and timing to cater to audience's needs. It works best if you can take the initiative, find out level of interest of having such presentation at your group/site/company and if interested, get in touch with us. We have covered 20 odd companies and schools in 3 years but there are 100s more we are yet to reach out to. Your initiation and interest will definitely help.

Note, doing presentations at local companies is just a part of the overall initiative. Other ways we can explore and build more collaboration between your employer and PMISV chapter are (including but not limited to) -
  • Inviting PMISV chapter to be present at one of the booths during your employee "career" or "development" day
  • Inviting experts from PMISV chapter to help assess your projects (planning, schedules, risk management etc)
  • Asking PMISV chapter experts to deliver professional development and/or PMP certification trainings at your workplace
