The Bay Lights Project
(Talk About Your High-Wire Acts!)
(Talk About Your High-Wire Acts!)
Talk about your high-wire acts! Try managing the Installation of 25000 individually controlled LED fixtures to 300 suspender cables of the West Span of the Bay Bridge. The suspender cables vary in height from 1 foot to 240 feet, and the 55-feet-long strands of fixtures are attached to the suspender cables with 50,000 UV rated zip ties. Over 100,000 feet of wiring are installed for the power, communication and networking systems of the Bay Lights. The work was done mostly at night within the 6-hour window allowed for lane closures on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge. There are over 700 Power & Data Supply (PDS) Boxes installed at 160 different locations across the Bridge.
Join us for Saeed Shahmirzai's fascinating presentation of this awesome project, including its installation and challenges.
