PM Insights-Sunnyvale: Resolving Wicked Problems through Polarity Thinking

Presentation Description:

You know that diverse ideas and perspectives can be a source of strength in your organization. But how can you ensure that everyone is working towards a common goal when they seem to be coming from so many different points of reference? In this presentation, you will explore the power of opposite perspectives and preferences otherwise known as polarities, paradoxes or wicked problems. You will learn how to harness the energy and power embedded in each polarity to enhance the creativity and performance of your team. By the end of this presentation, you will be able to:

Takeaways:

  • Recognize how opposite perspectives and preferences can build up or tear down your team
  • Map a polarity for your project team
  • Identify the downsides of an over-emphasized preference and determine the fear(s) that are driving the continued unproductive behavior(s)
