PM Insights-Sunnyvale:  Unlocking the Buried Potential of IT Organizations

Presentation Description:

Whether it’s a Southwest Airlines model ‘no frills’ or something akin to the Emirates Airlines ‘white glove’ experience in a Jennifer Aniston commercial, it’s not the operating model chosen that tarnishes the IT Brand.

The problem is when the IT promise is not aligned with the cost structure approved to support it. This can be prevented by clearly defining the IT value proposition before making decisions on the costs of services. Basically, you can’t promise first class seats and deliver coach.

Takeaways:

•       Understanding “What is the IT Promise” (Customer Value Proposition)

•       Defining IT Practices That Support the IT Brand

•       Examples of What Tarnishes the IT Brand

•       Building the Individual Brand of IT Employees

This interactive session will explore how we can create a strong understanding of each customer’s needs (value proposition) and then design a delivery approach to improve that customer’s condition in a measurable way. The presenter will share and ask you for real world examples where organizations proactively managing how customers perceive IT (managing the IT Brand) by setting expectations and then always delivering on commitments. This in turn results in a positive working relationship between the technical services centers and the business partners which is a win/win for everyone.
