Description:

This workshop provides a hands-on opportunity to transform your resume and cover letter, based on the latest industry trends, so you can take your career to the next level, successfully navigate a career change, or land your dream job.

Sign up for this workshop if you are:
  • Wondering what happened to the slew of resumes you sent into cyberspace
  • Concerned about gaps in your employment history or age discrimination
  • Reinventing yourself for a new industry or job type
  • Ready to recreate your resume to get yourself noticed and dominate your competitors
  • Interested in exploring ways to move up in your career
Objective:

This workshop empowers you to become your own employment specialist. Rather than paying an outside consultant to design your resume for you, you will become your own guru. By taking this seminar you will learn how to make effective strategic decisions about the content and design of your resume and cover letter, and how to tailor these documents to your unique needs and to the specific requirements of each position. You will also be empowered to maintain and update that resume according to changing industry trends and additional work experience acquired. You will walk out of this workshop with a cover letter and resume that are completely reborn to help you obliterate the competition and win your next job!

What You Will Learn:
  • The purpose of a cover letter
  • Cover letter do’s and dont’s
  • Types of resumes
  • Resume do’s and dont’s
  • Tips to get your electronic resume noticed
  • Techniques for designing paper resumes
A Hands-On Approach:

While this seminar includes traditional lecture and Q&A sessions, a significant amount of time will be devoted to transforming your cover letter and resume in real time during the course of the workshop. Be sure to bring your laptop with files of your current resume and cover letter (as well as a printout of each) so you can revise them according to the principles you are taught in class, formatting exercises, and peer reviews.

Testimonials:

"Marrietta's one-on-one coaching has benefited me immensely. She was quick to point out all the improvement areas with steps to overcome those. This coaching immensely helped me in increasing my confidence to face those nail-biting interview sessions. I whole heartedly recommend it for all job seekers."
- D. P., A Bay Area Product Manager

"Marrietta is a great resource when you need to stand out from the crowd. I've benefited from her career coaching services in both a large group and also in the one-on-one format. In both instances, what impressed me was the combination of Marrietta's own extensive professional resume, and the resulting broad range of high level professional skills and practical experience she has at her disposal. Add that to her ability to zone in, in a very genuine yet objective manner, to whatever challenge the client is facing, be that using white space to maximum effect like a graphic designer would, right up to creating a comprehensive job search campaign. All delivered with her customary diplomacy and good humor."
- P. Mudd, A Bay Area Project Manager
